Your ad here?

Yes I will be adding advertising to this site before long. For one thing I'll experiment with "real-time ads" a la those at MinnPost.com, allowing advertisers to update their own ads whenever they want. For instance, if you run a charter fishing business and have a cancellation you'd like to try to fill, you'll be able to update your own ad to note that fact.

Initially these updates will be based on Twitter feeds. Stay tuned for more details.

action on the reserve?

Surfland B&T reports some small stripers from the Plum Island NWR beach at night — and small bluefin tuna just off the beach. I was up in the mountains this weekend but might try getting out in between the wind, before the season winds up.

  • Wet that line and start castin' boy! You haven't done enough fishing this season.
  • OK, I'll get out there tomorrow afternoon/evening, as the barometer drops and the wind hauls out of the east. Hoping the cold snap the last couple days and approaching nor'easter get the fish feeding. Apparently there was a (rare, for this season) blitz of good-sized stripers on the beach for a few hours yesterday morning.

It'll be cold, though not nearly as nippy as that time we went night codfishing out there ...
